Eight schools will battle out not just for their respective alma mater’s pride but also to show their breathtaking dance routines as the UAAP Season 76 Cheerdance competitions kicks off on Sunday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

“This is going to be a close fight. Everybody wants to outperform one another,” said Jacqueline Alota, head coach of the FEU Tamaraws Pep Squad that brought home the first runner-up trophy last year.
Alota admitted that all teams have equal chance in taking the title.

The UP coach, Lala Perena vows to take a step higher and seeks for the championship title for the fourth time.

Maroons, being the defending champion explained how the competition is becoming tougher and how everyone upgrades their routines making them the primary team to beat.

“For me, all schools are the teams to beat,” said Perena.

Nonetheless, Perena and Alota, makes the NU Bulldogs Pep Squad as the most hazardous team this season.

The NU Pep Squad outshined the National Cheerleading Championship (NCC) last March, beating the FEU Tamaraws.

According to Alota, NU has everything and recruiting the top gymnasts from the last two Palarong Pambansa had surely elevated their status.

However, Alota made it clear that they will come off with bigger fight this season.

Perena, for her part, said that a winning routine in the UAAP tournament will always depend on each school’s performance and execution regardless of the recruitment of top gymnasts.

The netizens expressed their opinions on schools' assigned seat area released on official Facebook page.

The sitting arrangement was well-balanced and it is ensured that all schools will have a fair share on the arena.
“Hindi naman masusunod yang pausong arrangement na yan. Maraming manunood sa UP, ATENEO, LA SALLE, UST, FEU, then kaunti lang sa NU, AdU at UE,” (This arrangement will not be followed, therefore, useless. There will be a lot of crowd for UP, Ateneo, DLSU, UST, FEU, then there will be little for NU, AdU and UE) said Roui Janoba, the most-liked comment on the page.

“Balance na! Dapat lang, para fair sa ibang supporters ng other universities, pero mukhang mahirap para sa UP,” (It’s now balanced! It is right so that it will be fair to other supporters of other universities, but it seems like it will difficult for UP) said Mark Vincent Torino.

School supporters are clashing and arguing about how Maroons’ crowd will dominate the area prompting the page to release a meme that will take place on Sunday based on the supporters’ comments and perceptions.
