A thirst for the limitless search for books was quenched by the Manila International Book Fair with the theme “Words without Borders,” held last September 11-15, 2013 at SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay City.

The MIBF, now on its 34th year, remains the country’s biggest and longest-running book fair with the largest and most varied collection of literature.

About 85, 000 book lovers and enthusiasts comprised of local and foreign representatives and readers of varying interests graced the deluge of awaiting stories.

Various textbooks, educational supplements, general references, religious and inspirational titles, self-help books, management books, Filipiniana, coffee table books, popular novels, children's books, art books, graphic novels, rare and hard-to-find titles, magazines, audio and e-books, multimedia, teaching supplies and services, publishers' technology, and travel materials were gathered for the event.

Apart from great reads at affordable prices other special events for readers like storytelling sessions, poetry readings, book signings, book launches, literary awards, quiz bee competitions, interactive education, the annual St. Paul National Bible Quiz and many more activities that enrich the reading experience and contribute to the reading awareness of the Filipino public were showcased by the MIBF.

The event was organized by Primetrade Asia Inc., Book Development Association of the Philippines (BDAP), Philippine Booksellers Association, Inc. (PBAI), Overseas Publishers' Representatives Association of the Philippines (OPRAP) and Asian Catholic Communicators, Inc. (ACCI) along with seven other supporting parties as its partner organizations.

"The Book Fair was founded to bring books closer to the Filipino people. Three decades later, we still promote good reading habits, and provide a venue for an exchange of ideas among the players in the industry” said Irene Lloren, president of MIBF organizer Primetrade Asia.
