A total of 3,400 young people answered the call to attend the Local World Youth day last July 27 and 28, held at the Don Bosco Technical Institute, in Makati.

It was another event that gathered youth all around the Nation coming form different dioceses, national youth organizations and schools around Metro Manila.

The Federation of National Youth Organization, the Military Ordinariate of the Philippines, and the National Capital Region Youth Ministry, jointly organized the local WYD celebration.

Registration on the said event started at 1 PM and as the pilgrims or delegates arrived and settled down the roll call, welcoming and animations started.

The program officially started with a Eucharistic celebration presided by Rev. Leopoldo Tumulak of the Military Ordinary of the Philippines. Followed by the Audio Visual Presentation of the past World Youth Days.

The day was filled with informative talks from influential ‘lay’ people like Rev. Rolando Tria-Tirona talking about the message of the Pope for the World Youth Day 2013 in Rio, de Janeiro. During Former Pope Benedict XVI’s term he wrote the letter for WYD 2013 and he elaborated further the theme for this year “Go and Make disciples of all nation!”

Towards the end of the first day, youth festivals occurred, focusing on different fields like films, icebreakers, acoustic worships, etc. – each headed by different organizations. To end the day, before calling lights off - a prayer night was hosted, where ‘station of the cross’ was re-enacted through tableaus and was followed by praise and worship.

Early morning the second day, the highlight of the program, “Adoration” (with live stream coverage from Rio de Janeiro) set the mood of the pilgrims for the message of Pope Francis.

The event ended with another Eucharistic celebration presided by His Eminence Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle, leaving a statement for the youth – Lilipas din yang kabataan niyo! Magkakarayuma din kayo! Pero kahit anong mangyari, tandaan mo kapiling mo ang Diyos!"
